Objectives:

Provide an opportunity for career enhancement and job placement through an intensive programme of office experience under conventional office conditions and to develop a basic approach to entrepreneurship;

Provide interns with a basic understanding of professional practice within select fields encompassed by environmental management through task engagement on ongoing projects;

Provide applied research experience;

Assist interns in the transitional process from an academic to a project and cost oriented environment;

Develop skills awareness in report compilation, presentational graphics and Power point /web site design;

Enhance software capability (as relevant to previous experience) in Illustrator, Corel Designer 12, AutoCAD and GIS.

Familiarise with the current issues in natural resources industry with a special focus in the oil and gas business in North Sea and North East Atlantic.
Ideal Skills:
-
An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (background in geography is considered a plus)

Strong IT skills and familiarity with GIS will be an advantage

Strong written and oral communication skills

Excellent organisation skills
-
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in a team

Enthusiastic and highly motivated in familiarising with oil and gas and/or mining industry

A masters degree might be an advantage but not a requirement
The positions provide 8 to 12 weeks intensive professional experience. The work experience opportunity will expose successful candidates to the basics of project/client driven applied research and office practice – thus equipping them with the basics from which they may launch themselves into their chosen careers.
